The eighth Chinese International Exhibition CEO Conference took place on 8 January in Beijing. The event is organised by the very influential magazine Imp-Exp Executive: a leading voice in the import-export sector. This meeting gave the audience the chance to discuss the challenges of the sector and above all to find out what new advantages international trade shows offer. The forum is an effective way for show organisers to promote their events. The 2018 edition welcomed 220 decision-makers from 140 organisations (private companies, institutions and associations).
Making presentations and forging fruitful contacts
For the first time, the conference was open to show managers who do not have any organisational structure in China. Promosalons was invited to take part in the conference because of our special relationship with Imp-Exp Executive. The Managing Director of Promosalons China, Shuyu Lou, took the opportunity to promote the member shows he represents: Europain & Intersuc, Intermat, Sial Paris and SIAE. But he also described what the French trade shows had to offer in general. He presented them using communication tools and material produced by Promosalons Paris, which highlight the attractiveness and advantages of shows in France. Philippe Carrier and Mathieu Herrou, Chairman and CEO respectively of Rochexpo, took the opportunity to go out and meet the Chinese market and to introduce their events. They forged some fruitful contacts, and a Chinese pavilion at Simodec is planned for 2020. Promosalons China also organised meetings for them with two show organisers, including CIMT - China International Machine Tool Show in Beijing (the sector’s 3rd biggest show worldwide) - with whom they plan to exchange stands. Three interviews took place, with Imp-Exp Executive and two specialist media outlets in the machine tool sector. Several articles were published just after the conference. Rochexpo also benefited from exposure on social networks thanks to Imp-Exp Executive and Promosalons China who publicised the organiser in the run-up, during and after the conference. Building on the contacts made at that event, two Chinese delegations visited SIMODEC 2018 with the aim of establishing future partnerships.
Feedback... Mathieu Herrou, CEO of ROCHEXPO
“This event allowed us to explore the Chinese market and test its potential, with the help of Promosalons’ well-targeted activities. We were able to present the strengths of our field, beyond the industrial sector. The support from Promosalons China was invaluable, obviously in terms of logistics, but above all in allowing us to learn the subtleties of how this country works. We’ve had excellent outcomes from this and have seen the power of social networks in China. "
