Maison&Objet recognises Jordanian designers

Maison&Objet and Promosalons Arabian Gulf have shone the spotlight on Jordanian restaurant and café designers. A new way to consolidate the show’s profile and reputation.

In partnership with Maison&Objet, Promosalons Arabian Gulf organised the competition for the best restaurant design in Jordan. The awards ceremony took place on 9 January 2019, at W Amman, a Marriott group hotel with a contemporary design.

In this region, restaurants and cafés play a crucial role in social relationships, both personal and professional. The concept and interior design of these venues have a strong impact on their ambience. Organising a competition with this theme was an original way to target professionals in décor and design. By rewarding the talent of restaurant and café designers, M&O boosted its visibility and image.

Promosalons Arabian Gulf conceived, designed and organised the event: from drafting the competitionentry forms and the various communications disseminated by email and on social networks, to attracting participants and handling all the logistics. The team also invited partners and members of the judging panel:

Sahel Al Hiyari, renowned architect and designer from Jordan,
Rana Beirouti, founder and director of Amman Design Week,
Bayan Malhas, journalist, blogger and renowned consultant,
Ramiz Ayoub, director of the Jordanian association of architects and designers,
Maya Kawar, co-founder of the Jordanian Interior Design Association.

These partners identified a longlist of establishments, sent them their entry forms, then received and reviewed the completed entries to select the two winners. They were also involved in promoting the event to their contacts or members, and via social networks.

A fantastic turnout

Despite severe weather conditions, 88 people from the community managed to attend the event, out of the 120 who had registered. These included Industry VIPs, the press, architects and professional designers, institutional visitors, information networks, university deans and a select number of architecture, art and design students.

After a talk by the French Ambassador to Jordan, the Promosalons managing director gave a presentation of M&O, including its new sector-based organisation and inspiration tools. Bayan Malhas testified to the importance of an event like M&O for keeping abreast of global trends and the latest products, and the positive impact that her regular visits to the show have had on her career. Leading players also presented a nationwide overview of interior décor and design.

Finally, the panel members commented on the designs of the winning restaurants and presented the awards to the winners. The event concluded with a networking reception.

This campaign generated high-potential contacts, meeting the very high quality objectives set by M&O and Promosalons Arabian Gulf: focusing on VIPs and buyers with specific projects.

Testimonial from Caroline Biros, Marketing and Communication Director at Maison&Objet
“This Jordanian campaign is emblematic of what we want to do: creating links with influential players in the market (associations, journalists, opinion leaders etc.) and organising events packed with content, networking and discussion opportunities. By seeing this project through from start to finish with complete autonomy, the Arabian Gulf team contributed to implementing our strategy: using local contacts to broaden the reach of our show.”
